Argentina Pop Star Spreads Positive Message:

Even though most had never heard his name, Argentine Pop star Justo Lamas, had more than six hundred students on their feet almost the entire time he was on stage today.

The ninety minute show was held at the North Platte Community Playhouse.

The Educational Service Unit number 16 helped bring the star.

His concert is one of sixty three he is performing across the US.

Lamas who sang mostly in Spanish tested the students on some vocabulary, encouraged them to sing along, and invited them to dance on stage.

“I love it, I came last year and it was exciting, but I kind of didn't know what to expect. And this year, I learned all the songs beforehand, so I could sing it along with him,” said Maddi McKenzie , 12th-grader.

“I loved it, it was great. It was just full of energy and it was so much fun,” said McKenna Eshleman, 11th-grader.

Lamas' show not only focuses on the importance of being bilingual, but he also spoke briefly about his personal mission of never giving up and following your dreams.

His schizophrenic mother tried to commit suicide when he was just five years old.

He says following your dreams helps you focus on the future, instead of the past; something he believes will change your life.

“That is the reason that we are here on the earth to conquer our dreams, to find our purpose and our purpose is our dream,” said Justo Lamas, Pop Singer . “Kids between the age of 15 and 18 years old they are trying to find their way and I think they need our help. So that's why I give that message.”

“His message is to like follow your dreams, find it and follow your dream. His dream is to travel and spread language and positive messages,” said Eshleman.

“I think it makes the whole thing a lot better, because he is not just performing to perform, he has a purpose and a reason for performing, and I think it makes the show ten times better,” said McKenzie
